Solo RPGs
Glorious leader has been working steadily on the great work, the master plan. I have been doing a great deal of research into game design. Specifically, I have been looking into solo RPGs, and the related game books (such as the old Choose Your Own Adventure books and Fighting Fantasy Game Books).
Some of the Solo RPGs I have been looking into include:
- Thousand Year Old Vampire, by Tim Hutchings
- Quill, by Scott Matthouse
- Alone Among the Stars, by Takuma Okada
- Journey, by Luke Miller
- Ex Novo, by Konstantinos Dimopoulos and Martin Nerurkar

The point to all of this is to see about incorporating a Solo RPG into each Rule Book for Blood Red Dreaming, allowing players to play immediately- prior to assembling a group of likeminded lunatics.
Ohto County
I have also been fleshing out the setting of Ohto County. Now Ohto County is a nowhere place that seems not to exist, and I have deliberately drawn inspiration for the various regions of Ohto County from iconic regions. The Broken Coast draws inspiration from the coasts of New England and the Pacific Northwest. New Vaarashire draws inspiration from New England, primarily towns of Rhode Island and Maine- in homage to Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft. The Katketty River Region draws inspiration from the Louisiana Bayou and the Florida Everlades. The Lesser Hirvi Mountain Region draws its cues from the Ozarks and the Appalachians.
Against the Grain and Spinoza
I have been reading and listening to the works of James C. Scott and Barruch Spinoza recently, as well as the videos of Philosophy Tube. I love to mix various types of intellectual oil and water to inspire new thinking on my part. I just finished ‘Against the Grain’ by James C. Scott. And this book has entered into my core canon of books about the Freepath and the Song of Seven. I have been listening to lectures on Barruch Spinoza, primarily on his work “The Ethics.’
