But I Repeat Myself

The reasonable person looks upon debate as a means by which people work out their differences and reach a compromise agreement everyone accepts. The conservative and the fascist (but i repeat myself) do not view debate in this manner. The conservative views debate as a diversionary tactic. The conservative uses debate for two things. They use debate to prevent actions they would oppose, by continuing the debate indefinitely and insisting that no action take place while the debate is still active. They use debate to distract their opponents while the attempt to push through their agenda without general agreement. The conservative uses the first technique for things like gun reform and action on climate change, where they like the status quo. They use the second tactic for things like abortion rights and public school funding, where they wish to roll back genuine progress that benefits humanity.

Bottom line: if a conservative or a fascist (but I repeat myself) is engaging in debate with you, they are not engaging in good faith. And in order to win, you must find where the real action is and fight the battle there.
