I am not at my best every day. I doubt anyone is. Today is one of those sub optimal days.
But I have rules. And those rules help me get things done on suboptimal days. I can grin out progress towards my larger goals, even on days that make me want to curl into a ball and forget the world. And although those days are fewer with proper medication, they still occur.
And so I have rules. I have plans. I have guides. And those keep me moving.
I may talk about those rule and guides and how I developed them at a later time. But for today, I am satisfied to simply point out that it is the rules rather than the goal that keep me moving.
