People are watching the hearings today on the January Sixth Insurrection attempt. They are watching people discuss the riot at the capital, where right wing domestic terrorists attempted to capture governmental representations and overturn the results of a US presidential election. The testimony and evidence make this very clear. Anyone can see that this was an attempt at a coup.
But nobody I have seen discussing this, thinks that the hearings will result in any substantive change. They don’t believe that Donald Trump or his co-conspirators will suffer any consequences. And this is dangerous. It means faith in the system has been eroded past the point of return. It means America is a hollow shell. And that doesn’t bode well for the future.
