We cannot affect everything. We choose what we think we can affect. We choose what we will sacrifice. We cannot do everything. We decide what thing will receive our energy. We cannot do everything. Nobody can.
People abandon relationships. They abandon careers. They abandon their dreams. They abandon nations. They abandon allegiances.
We are not the heroes of an open world sandbox video game. The quests will not sit patiently waiting for us to get to them. And so we cannot do everything. We abandon things we decide are not worth pursuing.
This is unavoidable. This is inescapable.
You cannot do everything. Choose carefully what you pursue. Choose carefully what you abandon.
