Unproductive and Unprofitable

I drink too much caffeine. I know this. I can feel the ragged edge of my fatigue if I do not intake a substantial amount of the stuff in the morning. I get withdrawal if I stop drinking caffeine. I suspect a lot of people would experience the same if they stopped their daily caffeine rituals. We are dependent upon a stimulant to keep up with modern life.

We need recovery time. We need recuperation time. But protestant work ethic and the capitalist ethos has worked hard to convince us that we are not of value if we are not busy and preferably producing profit from somebody else. We need to reclaim our right to be unproductive. We need to reclaim our right to pointless time. We need to demand the right to an unprofitable life. Because the profit motive is grinding us into dust that somebody else will sell.
