A random thought. The baby boomers are resisting handing over power to the next generation. The developing world is increasingly a gerontocracy of baby boomers who refuse to step down. In retrospect, this isn’t surprising. The younger generations are all more progressive than the Baby Boomers. If they let us take the wheel, we would steer things definitively to the left. And they have built their comfort upon the reclining easy chair that sits distinctly on the right.
My father has voted right or center-right his whole life. When I convinced him to take a political position test, he was stunned to discover that his actual beliefs skewed quite far left. He’d been reflexively voting against his beliefs for his entire life. These are the people still making decisions for the planet. And if we don’t take the wheel, they will drive us off a cliff.
