Lughnasadh

Today is Lughnasadh. The start of the harvest season. The Assembly of the god Lugh. So bake some bread into braids. Craft some corn husk dollies. Braid some straw into a pentagram. Bake a corn god into some bread and ritually devour it. Perform a cleansing ritual. And begin the process of harvesting food and storing it for the winter.

I am not Wiccan. But Lughnasadh and the eight sabbats that comprise the wheel of the year are still useful to me as an occultist. They are neatly linked to the solar year and serve to mark, symbolically, the passage of the sun. If you are a Craft Brew Magician like I am, you can absorb these ideas and use them as well.

“Absorb what is useful. Reject what is useless. Add what is essentially your own.”
