Game Decks
Blood Red Dreaming uses three card decks for play. The Deck of Void is a deck of 72 cards that is used for gameplay resolution. The Deck of Fire is deck of game scenarios which the players use to customize their gameplay sessions. The Deck of Grey is a modifier deck that is used in play to shape the gameplay. All three decks are used in play, and all are available as printable downloads for free.
Deck of Void
The Deck of Void is used for primary gameplay, much like regular cards in a game of poker. The deck consists of 60 custom cards with values of 0 through 4 and two sigils: one for Action Type (6 possible types) and one for Style Type (5 possible dual types). Action Types are divided in two groups: Skill and Story. Actions are defined by their skill types: Mind , Hands, and Body. The Story Types are as follows: Hero, Scoundrel, and Villain. Card Values are divided up as follows: 24 cards with a value of 1, 18 cards with a value of 2, 12 cards with a value of 3, 6 cards with a value of 4, and 12 cards with a value of 0.
Deck of Fire
The Deck of Fire is used to fill out the board game with active locations. It divided in to the following Suits: Weaver, Serpent, Firebird, and Whisper Cards. Cards have Earth, Water, or Air suits which are used to trigger the Act 2 Scenes. The Weaver Cards are Mythos Cards. These cards provide mood and lore for the story and the area. The Serpent Cards are Encounter Cards. These cards generate brief encounters (not necessarily a scene). The Firebird Cards are Mystery Cards. These cards generate brief puzzles and conundrums. the Whisper Cards are Location Cards. These are blank (ish) cards, and include the start location and terrain modifiers.
Deck of Grey
The Deck of Grey is a Deck of Cards used for modifying Strategy Cards which affect the state of gameplay during individual scene resolution.
