Ohto County sits in a valley delta and creeps up into the lesser Hirvi Mountains to the east. The rare visitors to Ohto County arrive either through the Green Brothers Marina, or the Sundberg Coast Road that runs along the Broken Coast from the north and into New Vaarashire. On the northwestern coast of Ohto County sits Isa Island. Just to the south and east of Isa Island, on the fertile Karhu Delta and just to the north of the mouth of the Katketty River, sits the small and aging town of New Vaarashire. To the south of New Vaarashire and on the south shore of the Katketty River sits the Katketty River Region. Following the Katketty River to the east, a visitor will reach the Black Lake. Coiling around the valley regions from the northeastern coast to the southwestern edge of the Katketty River is the Lesser Hirvi Mountain Regional Park.
Climate
The climate in the Ohto Lowlands and Karhu Delta Region is typically warm-summer Mediterranean climate: warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The climate in the Elder Warrens is typically a marine west coast climate; warm summers, mild winters, and moderate rainfall throughout the year. However, the climate of Ohto County is not consistent, and can change without warning and for prolonged periods of time. Heavy snowfall might blanket the valley one winter and torrential rainfall may arrive the next winter. The residents say tha the the valley has a temperamental personality and anything might anger the valley, resulting is a thunder storm or a freezing sleet with no warning whatsoever.
Physical Geography
Ohto County is divided in to two major regions: the western coastal region called the Ohto Lowlands and the eastern highlands known as the Elder Warrens. Within the Ohto Lowlands (also called the Karhu Delta Region) are the Broken Coast and New Vaarashire- which is the largest town in the region.
The Elder Warrens sits south and east of the Katketty River. To the east of New Vaarashire is the Lesser Hirvi Mountain Regional Park, and the tiny mountain villages of Old Taikus and Old Lincoln. Directly south of New Vaarashire is the Katketty River Region, itself divided into the low income rural South Shore Region, and the Lakeshore Region- which sits between the Ohto Lowalands, the Katketty Rivier region, and the Lesser Hirvi Mountain Regional Park.
Geology
The geological features of Ohto County appear to be allochthonous, not related to the rest of the North American continent. instead, the geology of Ohto County appears to have been formed by a series of intrusions and sedimentary rocks as prehistoric islands that have collided with with the rest of the North American continent sometime around the late Cretaeceous.
Natural Resources
Owing to the isolation of the region, fishing and farming are the two primary industries in the valley. Both fresh water and salt water fishing are highly productive activities in Ohto County. The Karhu Delta region is nearly all arable land and the soil is incredibly fertile. Forestry and small scale hydroelectric power are also widely practiced by necessity borne of a lack of consistent interaction with the outside world. The valley has managed to be energy self sufficient, but electricity is a carefully rationed precious resource. Small scale mining is practiced throughout the region, including mining for a strange mineral the locals have named orichalcum, after the mysterious wonder metal reportedly used in Atlantis.
