“Do you know what the scariest thing is?
To not know your place in this world. To not know why you’re here.
That’s… that’s just an awful feeling.”
Elijah Price, Unbreakable
Arguably the strangest of the Denizens, the Archetypes are Avatars of beings from the Bonelands. But these are reusable hollow avatars and many people will step into the roles of the Archetypes and play the parts of hero and scoundrel and villain. To wear an archetype is to step into and live out their story. When a psychonaut finds themselves engaged in a quest or story that mirrors the attributes of an archetype they may be able to don the mantle of the archetype. Their actions will be added to the story of the archetype to enrich the tapestry of the tale.
Psychonauts who look too closely at the tales of an archetype may notice that such tales are rife with impossibilities and paradoxes. The grandfather Paradox and the bootstrap Paradox are indications that the story has been told multiple times. They are indications that the hero has died and the heroe’s successor has continued the work.
The Archetypes are Divided into several Groups, which can easily divided into Freepath and Locust Touched
If you make yourself more than just a man,
if you devote yourself to an ideal and if they can’t stop you,
you become something else entirely:
A legend, Mister Wayne.
Batman Begins
The Locust Touched
Locust servants can be spotted by two things. They claimed power over the bone lands. And a claim rulership or ownership over things or land. Whereas the free peoples of all species and all denizens will merely claim to be inhabitants, at most protectors, and more frequently children of those things that they identify with.

The Unmasked Archetypes cannot be worn by Psychonauts, but as long as there is a story, there is always a Narrator and there is always an Audience.

Excerpt from the Ars Holistica
This, then, is one of those books who usually talk vaguely about 'they' and 'them' and whisper about conspiracies and probably complains about established power. And all of this is true as far as it goes, but quite wrong. There have been real conspiracies, such as the Phaeton Group which succeeded in large scale price fixing and building in planned obsolescence into the lightbulb. But most of the conspiracies imagined by paranoids are too perfect and too vast in scope- and far too unproveable. Evidence of the conspiracy proves the conspiracy, absence of evidence proves the skill of the conspiracy. This does us no good. So what I will give you here instead is a conspiracy that requires no secret meetings or whispered conversations in back alleys. It requires no Bilderberg group and no evil illuminati, and only minimal interference from the Annunaki. What it does require is a story, a mythology, and one so infectious that it has survived ten thousand years of near constant mutation with it's essential assumptions and lies still intact in the present day. Our conspiracy is one perpetrated by the story upon the listeners and readers who retell it generation through generation and thus ensure that another generation will be infected and continue to spread the malignancy for another cycle of birth and death. You are infected. You are a carrier. You are infectious. This is a socially transmitted disease, a contagious ideology. But the good news, is that this book is the cure- or at least a booster shot to help you shake of that persistent infection of the mind and the culture. So read on. Unless you'd like to go find a book on tantric breathing, I'm sure that would be much more edifying. An Introduction to that 3 Pound meat computer on top of your spine is now in order - Text missing from manuscript - So, where am I going with all of this? And how does all of this relate to my rather provocative title? When a dictator want to keep his subjects (it is usually a he) from rebelling, what does he do? Well, besides repression and heavy taxation, the dictator typically looks to ban those technologies comparable to books and swords. Disarming the populace keeps them from being able to oppose the dictators soldiers, and censorship always him to shape the perception of the world- turning his kingdom into a bell jar where he controls - Text missing from manuscript -
