Who are the Free Tribes?
Humans lived without the Hungry Empire for over a million years of evolution. From Homo Habilis to Homo Sapiens Sapiens, we have lived free of the Locust King and his demand of fealty and subservience. These are the Free Tribes. We are taught, living in the empire, that all of human history and prehistory was a ramp leading up to us in the empire.
But what if this is not true?
What is the empire is not the inevitable result of human evolution? What if the Hungry Empire is a dangerous anomaly? What if this diversion into empire endangers our ability to live sustainably on the planet? What if the very design of the Hungry Empire renders it unsustainable and completely unable to survive long term compared to the humans who came before? And what if there were an alternative that had survived for more than one hundred times as long as the empire, an empire which now sits in tatters upon a pile of bones?
These are the Free Tribes. They live in many different ways. They carry many different customs. They do not all get along. The thing which binds them together is there adherence to the laws of the Free Path and the Song of Seven. These laws are described in different ways by different cultures. Most of these peoples would not recognize the phrases Free Tribe, or Free Path, or Song of Seven. But they nonetheless follow these guides. This is because the Song of Seven and the Free Path were assembled from studies of the Free Tribes. They are bound together by their opposition to empire and their refusal to bend the knee to the Locust King. They will not give up their culture. They will not give up their ways. They are the Free Tribes.
