If you have been looking around the site, you may be getting a little bewildered. You may be wondering: is this a story or a game? Is this a philosophy or a religion? Is that a fraternal organization or a cult?
Yes.
So what does that even mean? It means that religion is a useful tool, a social technology that humans have used throughout our history and before to nurture and continue culture and nurture the emotional and narrative lives of the individuals within that culture. Religion is technology. So why are we still using bronze age technology? Why are we still filling our heads with the spiritual propaganda of long dead kings?
We deserve cutting edge social technology in our brains. We know how to do better. So let’s do it.
The Flame

The Flame is a central concept of the Song of Seven. The Flame is the motivation that underlying everything else that is the Song of Seven. The Flame is connected to the Firebird and the concept of Mystery (with a capital M).
Start here. This underpins all other parts of the ideology we are proposing .
A Religion
According to a quick internet search, religion is defined as “a particular system of faith and worship,” or “a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance.” So, are we a religion? We say yes. Some would say we are a cult. As we consider cult to be a term that big religion uses to disparage little religion, we agree with this definition as well. And hey, if the Church of Satan gets to be a religion, then so should we. But if you are still uncertain, we have more details here.
The Ancestor’s Oath
The closest thing that we have to the Lord’s Prayer. The Ancestor’s Oath is a concise restatement of the driving goals and ideals of the Song of Seven.
Rituals of the Flame
Religions have rituals. Nations have rituals. The Freemasons have rituals. Hell, the Boy Scouts have rituals. Rituals bind us together and infuse the everyday with meaning.
The Paths of the Free Path
The Song of Seven is composed of several paths of learning. Primarily the Path of the Firebird and the Path of the Warrior. These paths are not mutually exclusive, but collaborative. One should seek to learn all paths.
The Path of the Firebird is a course of study designed to render one an adult in the eyes of the Song of Seven. An adult is able to think critically, provide for their own needs, and defend themselves. And the Path of the Firebird is a course that will lead the adherent to become that sort of adult.
The Path of the Warrior is a course of study designed to build a foundation and forge ones body into a tool that one can use in other adult pursuits. As with the Path of the Firebird, the Path of the Warrior exists to make one an adult. But the Path of the Warrior approaches this from a different angle. Both paths are necessary to become a whole adult, able to live independent of the Hungry Empire.
The Empire loves to talk about honor and the way of the warrior. Those who bark about honorable combat are rarely interested in honor if they are actually losing. Watch the Empire when its been made to bleed, and watch its honor disappear like fog in morning.
