The Reenactment of the Deal

Through the Last Princess’s agreement with the Weaver she became the First Mother. And as First Mother, she went on to found the first tribe.

The Deal Within

The purpose of Weaver’s Day is twofold. First, Weaver’s Day exists to retell part of the Founding Myth and keep it alive. Second, Weaver’s Day exists as a time when warriors reaffirm their personal agreement with the Weaver. The reaffirmation of the deal is performed alone, and always in a cave or sepulcher with no natural light. The celebrant lights a signal candle or oil lamp. They hold a prayer sheet with the affirmation of the deal and recite the deal aloud. Once done, they burn the prayer sheet in the flame. And then the celebrant meditates on the deal in darkness.

Traditions

In addition to the reenactment of the Deal and the personal reaffirmation of individual deals, celebrants of Weaver’s day also engage in decorating with spider motifs and tree motifs. Celebrants feast with foraged foods and the first hunt of the season. Children are also traditionally given their first piercing on Weaver’s Day.
