True Believers

Many nasty things can be said about the servants of the False King. They can be named autocratic fascists, religious fanatics, colonial imperialists, and more. But one thing cannot be said about the servants of the False King is that they do not believe. And so the true servants of the False King are known as the True Believers. And this for the simple reason that they believe in the cause of the Hungry Empire.

The ranks of the True Believers are filled out first by the ranks of the Locust King, because the Locust King is not one, but a line of succession. The four loyal officers are also counted among the True Believers: The Truthspeaker, The Bone Man, The Cinnabar Lady, and the Dragon Lord. The Men of Black and White form the bulk of the True Believers, barely being men or people at all- but rather the personification of zealotry.

The general Nobility of the Hungry Empire are not counted among the True Believers. Though they are not necessarily counted among the Faithless, the False Servants of the False King. But the nobility took the bargain offered by the False King, and did so for their own benefit and survival. The nobility are by necessity working from self interest. Most inhabitants of the Hungry Empire are not numbered among the True Believers or the Faithless, they are simply inhabitants.

But the True Believers are what run the empire. It is the fanaticism of the True Believers that allows the Empire to expand and continue its self destructive mission.
